Carey Laviolette, Superintendent
We are privileged to have you visit the Iberia Parish School District Website. The district is honored to serve approximately 13,000 diverse students with almost 2,000 dedicated employees in the communities of Delcambre, Jeanerette, New Iberia, and Loreauville. The school district is grateful to the constituents of these communities for supporting the investment of twenty-five well-maintained schools and two additional program facilities. The support of the citizens has also allowed the school system to keep safety and security of the students and staff as a high priority. The procurement of bus camera systems, electronic controlled entries, metal detectors, scanning wands and resource officers help to provide multiple security layers of protection during these troubling times.
The school district is exceptionally proud of its 28.8-point increase in the District Performance Score (DPS) over the past ten years, which gives the district a solid “B” letter grade. Additionally, Iberia Parish was recognized by the Louisiana Department of Education as one of the top eight school districts for increasing the percentage of students scoring “Mastery” or “Advanced” on the LEAP Assessments over the last three years.
It is an especially exhilarating time to be a part of a school district that believes that all children can learn and that is prepared to adjust the instructional program to meet the needs of all students every day. Our teachers and administrators not only strive to ensure that student learning is the highest priority, but exhibit willingness to be life-long learners themselves. Continuous professional development during the summer months and school year ensures that teachers are prepared to provide the highest quality instruction for students to graduate prepared for the challenges of the “real world.”
Once again, thank you for your interest in the Iberia Parish Public School District.
