ASSESSMENT

Iberia Parish participates in the Louisiana Educational Assessment Program (LEAP) for grades 3 through high school to measure student progress towards college and professional career readiness. Our students are assessed annually in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies in 3rd through 8th grades. High school students take LEAP tests in the following subjects: Algebra I, Geometry, English I, English II, U. S. History, and Biology. Additionally, our English learners are assessed annually using the English Language Proficiency Test (ELPT) to track their acquisition of the English language.  All 11th graders take the ACT and/or WorkKeys to ensure they are on track to graduate from high school. These rigorous and nationally comparable assessments are a key tool in measuring college and career readiness.

ACCOUNTABILITY

The Louisiana Department of Education grades schools on a scale of A through F. Letter grades provide the public the information necessary to understand school performance. The grades are calculated based on student achievement on assessments, graduation rates, and measures of career and college readiness such as earned Carnegie credits, Advanced Placements credits, CLEP credits, and Dual Enrollment.
